Liebster Award!

This weekend I went to the lake and when I came home I found out I was nominated by THREE different teachers for the Liebster Award!
So, what is a Liebster?  Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.  Blogging is about building community, and this is a GREAT way to connect with other bloggers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs!

I was working on the post yesterday and didn't finish, and woke up to a comment that I was also nominated by Kris from The Poole Pages. She made the sweetest comment about me and my blog. And she was going to be one of MY nominees! Dang it! I better get this posted asap!
I'm hoping to answer all the questions from everyone, cause I don't want to leave anyone out, but I'll take out the questions that are doubles. Be prepared for a long post! Thank you for taking the time to read it! :)
To accept the nomination there are a few things I have to do:
1.  Link back to the blog that nominated me
2.  Nominate 5-11 blogs with fewer than 200 followers
3. Answer the questions posted by my nominator
4.  Share 11 random facts about myself
5.  Create 11 questions for my nominees
6.  Contact my nominees to let them know I nominated them

I was nominated by:
1. My Challenger 2nd grade bestie and blogging buddy Kayla Delzer at Top Dog Teaching

6. What inspired the theme of your blog? Well, I teach 3rd grade, and our school mascot is the Prowlers. That's how it became Thinking in Third Grade with Mrs. Johnson's Little Prowlers. We do a lot with "Prowler Pride" in 3rd grade, so it seemed fitting to have prowlers in our name somewhere.

8. What is the best part of your job? The kids! The personalities of the kids really make each day awesome. I also love the team of people I work with.

Questions from Katie at Kdot's Learning Spot: (Isn't that the cutest name?! LOVE that she teaches 3rd grade!) :)

  2. What is your funniest classroom memory? Ok- one day as I was doing a read aloud, a kid accidentally farted. Usually when that happens, a couple kids giggle and we move on. This time, it was kind of loud and the kid next to him looked over at him very dramatically with a shocked face and said, "that sounded just like my mom!" I laughed SO hard I was crying. Kids are not afraid to say ANYTHING!
  3. What inspired you to be a teacher? I've always loved school. I loved going and always loved my teachers. I think that's what made me want to be a teacher, that I had such wonderful teachers that made it a happy place for me. I used to force my sister to play school with me. ;)

  5. What is your favorite piece of technology to use in the classroom? Well, I do love my Smart Board, but last year we had a cart of iPads we could check out that was pretty awesome. And now this year we are going 1:1 so ALL my kiddos will have an iPad! iPads take the cake. So pumped!!

I also really like this one:

  7. What is your favorite non-teaching hobby or activity to do? I love to play volleyball.
  8. What is one new goal you have for this school year? Hmm....just one? I always start the year with lots of things I want to work at being better at. I want to be more organized, which is an ongoing goal so I can't really count that! I want to try and implement Words Their Way this year for word study, so I'd say that's my number one goal.
  9. Who is your favorite author? Jodi Picoult or Nicholas Sparks
  10. What is your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is probably finishing grad school! I got my Masters in Reading Education from UND and am so thankful I went back and did it! I teared up, it was so thoughtful. And memorable. :)

  2. Awww!!! Thanks for your sweet comments about my blog! It was so much fun to read all about you...The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies too! I could watch it over and over again. I'm laughing about the 'sheets' random fact! My kids are all the same way and I never bother to put a top sheet on any of their beds...they just end up smooshed down at the bottom of the bed, or kicked off onto the floor.

    1. More than happy to nominate you! I loved reading all about you! I actually teach in New York, but live in CT. My Andy is from MN and I am holding him hostage on the East coast lol! We visit as often as we can and it is SO beautiful there! He's trying to convince me to move out there, but I'm ok with just visiting ;)
